I hope they're all okay. My husband grew up on the North lake side and we were married in lake Tahoe. His Aunt has relatives there and so far they're okay. It's scary.

Craftyhala, your husband is so lucky to have grown up there. I hope his family stays safe.
I grew up in Reno and lived in California for a long time, and wildfires were always around, but for some reason this one has hit me much harder. Maybe it's because so many houses are gone. Maybe because I've always wished I had a house there.
I hope it's contained soon.
It makes me so sad. :(
Yep, fingers crossed RadioGirl. Bushfires are something we are very familiar with...very scary and unpredictable,BUT...yippee..we are getting good rain in many of the worst drought areas here. Maybe I can blow the rain in the direction of the fires. By the way, I love the photos of Reno in your archives...so kitschy in a way, so 60s....gorgeous.

Thank you all for your thoughts and concern; I think the fire is about 70 percent contained now.
Unfortunately, 254 homes have been lost so far; I cannot even begin to imagine what those people are going through, but I am wishing the best for them as hard as I can.
If I ever get the chance, I will still live there. Or anywhere in the Sierra Nevadas, for that matter.
